Cortnie is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and also a Licensed School Counselor. She joined New Summit in our first year after owning her own private practice for 7 years where she specialized in trauma, EMDR, adoption, and at-risk children and teenagers.
Prior to that, she worked with at-risk teenagers in Residential Treatment. Cortnie brings years of clinical expertise to New Summit along with her passion for interventions within the educational system. She moved into school counseling so that she could do more preventative work and make an impact with kids on a larger scale. She has been working with and counseling children and adolescents since 2005.
She has a Bachelors Degree from The University of Colorado and a Masters Degree from Colorado Christian University. Cortnie is passionate about equipping children with skills of resiliency, emotional coping, and the ability to overcome hardships in life.
She also loves to support the teachers in gaining the skills and insight needed to work with kids who may be struggling in the classroom due to emotional hardship, trauma, or behavior. Cortnie works to provide children, teachers, and parents with support and the emotional tools and interventions needed to reach success!
