The First Thing Kindergarteners Learn Before Learning How to Read
As parents, we all know some of the basic skills students will learn in kindergarten, such as reading, writing, shapes, and numbers. But there is
These classes are taught by one of New Summit’s Art Teachers, Mrs. Becky Anizell. If you have any questions about the following classes, please call 719-205-2294 or email becky.anizell@newsummitcharter.org. There will be paper registration forms in the office if you prefer to register that way instead of online.
There are two different classes to choose from:
Adventure Around the World will have two classes that last 6 weeks:
Class times are from 3:05-4:20 PM, and cost $90 per student. This cost covers, guest speakers, food, crafts, games, and handouts. This class will take place in the Spanish room on the upper level of the school.
Students in this class will explore 6 different countries around the world. Each week the student will learn fun and interesting facts about this country and add them to their “passport.” They will learn some of the languages, participate in a game or craft and then they will be making and tasting food from that country.
Once the student has been registered you will receive an email letting you know they are in the class. Please turn in payment and registration form by the 18th of January.
Art Emotions will have one class that will last 6 weeks:
Class time is 3:05-4:15 PM and will cost $90 per student. This cost covers all the costs of art materials as well as the instruction your child will be receiving. This class will take place in the art room.
In this class, we are going to be discovering healthy and fun ways of expressing our emotions. This group will be small in size. Art is a great medium for expressing feelings. We will explore different emotions each week and use a different medium to express them. It will be a creative way to have students have more self-awareness, new coping strategies, and improve personal insight as far as emotions are concerned. This class will be taught by someone who does have both a degree in Art and Psychology as well as a minor in counseling.
Once the student has been registered you will receive an email letting you know they are in the class. Please turn in payment and registration form by the 18th of January.
