Read With Me: 2 Summer Literacy Programs for Students
At New Summit Charter Academy, Literacy First is the pillar of our school. That’s why we want to prevent the summer slide when it comes to reading and Literacy! Here are two amazing “Read With Me” programs for students to do over the next few summer months!

1. Colorado Classroom: Read With Me at Home
Rocky Mountain Public Media in partnership with the Office of the Governor, the Colorado Department of Education, and the Colorado Education Initiative, is providing students in grades K-3 remote Literacy lessons and learning.
These lessons will be taught by teachers from all over Colorado. Meet the teachers here:
The lessons will be broadcasted Monday-Friday 8-10 AM on Rocky Mountain PBS. They will also be available for streaming online at rmpbs.org and on the PBS Video App on smart devices (search “Colorado Classroom” in the app).
Monday-Friday Daytime Schedule:
- 8 – 8:35 am MST- K-1st Grade
- 8:40 – 9:15 am MST- 2nd Grade
- 9:20 – 9:50 am MST- 3rd Grade
- 10:00-11:00 am MST – (History Detectives) – 4th-8th Grade
- 11:00 am – noon MST (NOVA) – 4th-8th Grade
- Noon-5 pm MST – 4th-12th Grade
Monday-Friday Overnight Schedule (Check with your local listings for air times):
- K-1st Grade- 35 minutes
- 2nd Grade- 35 minutes
- 3rd Grade- 35 minutes
Colorado Classroom – “Read With Me at Home” will re-air nightly from 3 a.m. – 5 a.m. MST for families to record.

2. Pikes Peak Library Districts’s Summer Adventure presented by Children’s Hospital Colorado
Starting on June 1, 2020, PPLD will be doing their yearly Summer Reading Adventure Game. This year’s will be presented by Children’s Hospital Colorado and will be for ages 0-18. Students can complete an activity (read, imagine, or move) during the month of June and July to earn points and a prize. Each activity is 50 points. Those who earn 1,500 points will be entered into a drawing for an amazing grand prize!
Those who want to participate can get game cards starting next week. These will be downloaded and printed in both English and Spanish and will be available at: www.ppld.org/summer-adventure. They can also be picked up at any Pikes Peak Library, curbside.
