Dear NSCA Families,
I Hope you are having a wonderful week. We wanted to let you know that we did our calculations for the school year due to the snow days we
My tracking shows that we have had 4 student-missed school snow days and 1 additional with a teacher workday. This would currently put us under the required 160 days by state law. Our current calendar only gave us 162 student contact days. I looked up all the minimum days, and minimum instructional hours on CDE and ways we could determine our days. Our current calculation in minutes is fine. We are at 1020.5 hours with the snow days. It just doesn’t give us the required total of 160 days. You can find the law and requirements HERE.
The following plan is for the remainder of the school year:
1. Students would attend school on May 1st and May 2nd instead of it being 2 full days of End of the year testing. Testing will be scheduled at school during the day while all students attend school. The process is similar to what we did in January.
2. We will add 20min to the end of the school day. School hours would change to 8:00-3:20.
3. Kindergarten AM will stay the same, and Kindergarten PM will start 20 min later at 12:20 instead of 12:00. PM will go from 12:20-3:20.
4. This will add a two-day buffer for any other snow days we may incur before the end of the school year to avoid making other changes last minute.
I know this will adjust after school care. We have informed Prodigy of this change, and they will communicate with you on the specifics of their process if there is any change. Any questions regarding Prodigy needs to be addressed to amber.prodigycc.com.
Attached you will find the updated calendar with the time change. The new schedule will take effect on April 1st-May 31st when you return from Spring Break. Please make any necessary adjustments before April 1st. If you have any questions, please email me at email@example.com.
Happy Spring Break!
